Pacific Aviation Museum
When visiting Oahu, aviation fanatics and history buffs don’t want to miss the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum. Located within two historic airplane hangars on Ford Island, this museum is filled with historic aircraft from different eras.
The hangars and iconic control tower survived the Japanese attack of December 7, 1941, and today they are home to an impressive collection of military airplanes and helicopters dating from World War II right up to the present.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn more about military aviation by exploring the large array of exhibits and artifacts on display. You can even see bullet holes from the attack in the windows and doors of Hangar 37!
The Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum is just one of the things to see at Pearl Harbor. Tours also take you to the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center and USS Arizona Memorial, Battleship Missouri, and the Bowfin Submarine Museum and Park.
On the return drive, see the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Punchbowl Crater, the final resting place for military men and women who served in World War I, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. The tour also drives through historic Honolulu, where you can see Iolani Palace, the iconic Kamehameha Statue and the Hawaii State Capitol.
