Hawaii Taxes and Fees

Taxes & Fees

What is General Excise Tax?

Hawaii doesn’t have a sales tax, but it does impose the general excise tax (GET). The GET charged is is 4.172%. Companies do not have to show clients the GET like a sales tax, but we prefer to show visitors. Hawaii imposes the GET on the total amount, so if options, such as lunch, are added to a purchase, the GET will be calculated on the total including the add-ons.

What is a booking fee?
The Booking Fee is a fee added to every tour to cover the credit card processing fee, merchant fees, and software processing fees. Many companies increase their price to include this fee or add it in the checkout. We show it upfront.

Harbor Fees, Airport Fees, Fuel Surcharges
Some activities require Harbor Fees, Airport Fees, and in the case of helicopters, a fuel surcharge. These fees are included in the listed price. There is a fee for comfort seats when helicopter passengers weigh over 250lbs. That fee is charged at the time of booking.
